France Preview – Week 32
OGC Nice has claimed the Infinity Cup from PSG and now faces Stade de Reims in a highly anticipated match. In recent encounters, Nice has had the upper hand, winning half of their last 36 meetings with Reims. Reims, however, hasn’t won in Nice since the 2018/2019 season, and they will need to dig deep to take the cup back.
Reims’ Fight for Survival and the Cup
Reims may have more than just the Infinity Cup to worry about, as they are not yet fully safe from relegation. Currently, they sit 5 points ahead of #16 Le Havre, who is in the relegation playoff spot. While Reims’ league status is in the balance, the Infinity Cup offers a potential lifeline and an extra incentive to fight.
This will be Reims’ third shot at the Infinity Cup this season. They drew 2-2 against Marseille in Week 2, and in Week 19, they held PSG to a 1-1 draw. In both instances, Reims were the challengers, which made these results less impactful in their quest to claim the cup.
Nice’s Fresh Hold on the Cup
Nice has had a taste of the Infinity Cup glory, and they are eager to defend it. They managed to grab the cup from PSG last round, marking a significant milestone for the team. Prior to this, Nice had a shot at the cup in Week 4 against Marseille, but they lost 2-0. Their victory over PSG last round was crucial, and now they must defend their title against Reims.
The Battle for the Cup
With PSG holding the Infinity Cup for 23 out of the previous 31 rounds, Nice’s recent win has left the cup up for grabs. Both teams will be determined to come out on top in what promises to be an exciting encounter.
After this round, Reims will face Stade Rennais, while Nice will take on AS Saint-Étienne. Both teams will be hoping for another chance at the Infinity Cup, but first, they must navigate their current matchups.
