Netherlands Preview – Week 34
Feyenoord are in excellent form under their new coach, Robin van Persie, remaining unbeaten in the Eredivisie with six wins and one draw. The team’s attack, led by man in form Igor Paixão, is on a mission to extend their unbeaten run.
Feyenoord are currently battling for 3rd place, which would secure a spot in the Champions League playoffs. However, FC Utrecht is close behind, just 3 points adrift. Fortunately for Feyenoord, they’ve regained their form at a critical juncture, winning their last six matches in a row.
Feyenoord’s Impressive Run with the Infinity Cup
Feyenoord has been holding the Infinity Cup since Week 24, when they took it from Sparta. Since then, they have successfully defended it across the next nine matches, with seven wins and two draws, showcasing their strength and consistency.
Heracles’ Challenging Task
Heracles, on the other hand, have not had the chance to play for the Infinity Cup this season, and this will be their first shot. They’ve had a strong run of form at home, winning their last four games, including victories over top sides like AZ (#6), FC Twente (#5), Go Ahead (#7), and PEC Zwolle (#15).
While Heracles will face a tough challenge against Feyenoord, their late entry into the Cupholder competition isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Even if they fail to take the cup in this match, they may have another opportunity down the line. If PSV Eindhoven takes the cup from Feyenoord next round. If that happens, Heracles will be back in contention for the Cup in the subsequent round.
Looking Ahead
Feyenoord will be looking to continue their run in the Eredivisie and Infinity Cup, but Heracles will be hoping to pull off an upset and make a late-season push for the trophy.
