Galatasaray won the title, their 16th league championship, under coach Eric Gerets. Fenerbahçe finished second, and Beşiktaş came in third.
The top scorer was Gökhan Ünal (Kayserispor) with 25 goals.
Newly promoted teams Sivasspor, Vestel Manisaspor and Kayseri Erciyesspor replaced Sakaryaspor, İstanbulspor AŞ and Akçaabat Sebatspor, who were relegated.
This season was notable for Galatasaray’s strong finish under Gerets.
