Season Recap
Bayern Munich secured the Bundesliga title in the 2009/2010 season, claiming their 22nd German top division championship under the management of Louis van Gaal. Schalke 04 finished as runners-up, while Werder Bremen secured third place.
The top scorer of the season was Edin Džeko of VfL Wolfsburg, who netted 22 goals.
The newly promoted teams this season were SC Freiburg, Mainz 05 1 and FC Nürnberg. Relegated from the previous season were Karlsruher SC, Arminia Bielefeld and Energie Cottbus, who did not participate in the 2009/2010 campaign.
