Season Recap
Borussia Dortmund won the Bundesliga title in the 2001/2002 season, securing their 6th German top division championship under the management of Matthias Sammer. Bayer Leverkusen finished as runners-up, while Bayern Munich completed the top three.
The top scorers of the season were Marcio Amoroso of Borussia Dortmund and Martin Max of 1860 Munich, both scoring 18 goals.
The newly promoted teams this season were 1. FC Nürnberg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and FC St. Pauli. Relegated from the previous season were SpVgg Unterhaching, Eintracht Frankfurt, and VfL Bochum.
