Season Recap

Bayern Munich secured the Bundesliga title in the 2000/2001 season, claiming their 19th German top division championship under the management of Ottmar Hitzfeld. Schalke 04 finished as runners-up, while Borussia Dortmund secured third place.

The top scorers of the season were Ebbe Sand of Schalke 04 and Sergej Barbarez of Hamburger SV, who both netted 22 goals.

The newly promoted teams this season were 1. FC Köln, VfL Bochum and FC Energie Cottbus. Relegated from the previous season were SSV Ulm, Arminia Bielefeld and MSV Duisburg, who did not participate in the 2000/2001 campaign.
