Galatasaray won the title, their 17th league championship, under coach Karl-Heinz Feldkamp. Fenerbahçe finished second, and Beşiktaş came in third.
The top scorer was Semih Şentürk (Fenerbahçe) with 17 goals.
Newly promoted teams Gençlerbirliği OFTAŞ, İstanbul B.B and Kasımpaşa replaced Antalyaspor, Kayseri Erciyesspor and Sakaryaspor, who were relegated.
This season was notable for Galatasaray’s strong defensive performance.
