Twente won their first-ever Eredivisie title, coached by Steve McClaren. Ajax finished second, and PSV Eindhoven came in third.
The top scorer was Luis Suárez (Ajax) with 35 goals.
Promoted teams RKC Waalwijk and VVV-Venlo replaced Volendam and De Graafschap, who were relegated.
This season was historic for Twente, as they broke the traditional dominance of Ajax, PSV, and Feyenoord.
