Ajax won the title, their 28th league championship, under coach Ronald Koeman. PSV Eindhoven finished second, and Feyenoord came in third.
The top scorer was Pierre van Hooijdonk (Feyenoord) with 24 goals.
Newly promoted Den Bosch replaced relegated sides RBC Roosendaal.
This season was notable for Feyenoord’s strong performance, as they also won the UEFA Cup.
