Season Recap
FC Nantes secured the Ligue 1 title in the 2000/2001 season under manager Raynald Denoueix, winning their 8th French league championship. Lyon finished as runners-up, with Lille taking third place.
Sonny Anderson of Lyon finished as the top scorer of the season, scoring 22 goals.
Promoted teams this season included Lille OSC, EA Guingamp and Toulouse FC, while relegated teams were Nancy, Le Havre and Montpellier.
Nantes’ title win was their first in seven years, as they showcased a strong defensive record and tactical discipline under Denoueix.
